MONTE is an independent porcelain studio based in Ayvalık, Türkiye, combining contemporary design with the individuality of handwork. Its Firefly Dinner Set received an Iron A’ Design Award in 2025.
From the first design and mould to glazing and firing, every stage is developed in-house. This close relationship between design and making gives each piece its own character, with an emphasis on simple forms and carefully worked detail.
MONTE collection
Ateş Böceği / Firefly
Ateş Böceği, meaning “Firefly”, is MONTE’s signature porcelain collection, distinguished by delicate patterns revealed through light. It is created using a distinctive technique developed by the studio. Each motif is worked into the porcelain itself, rather than applied to its surface. The porcelain body and specially developed glaze allow light to reveal the pattern, bringing another dimension to each handcrafted piece.
